Waterloo Press

The publications of Waterloo Press allow readers and lovers of history, in Austin and around the world, to appreciate and enjoy the treasures of the Austin History Center collection. Named for the pioneer village that would later become Austin, Waterloo Press publishes books, artworks, and other merchandise highlighting Austin history from the Republic era to modern times.

All Waterloo Press materials reproduce actual holdings of the Center or are based on its archival resources. The Press helps the Center fulfill its mission by making available to the public materials that highlight the rich and diverse history of Austin and Travis County.

The Waterloo Press catalog covers a wide range of topics from pioneer recipes to early medicine, from the origins of Austin theatre to the diplomacy of the Republic. Both famous names and everyday people from Austin’s past come to life in their own words in Waterloo Press books.

Waterloo Press also showcases the spectacular visual resources of the Austin History Center collection. Classic and compelling images of Austin history can be found in our popular line of illustrated books, postcards and notecards, and posters and reproductions. Waterloo Press is also proud to offer for sale prints and artworks from noted local artist Mary Curtis depicting scenes from Austin history.

All Waterloo Press materials can be purchased in the Austin History Center Reading Room as well as at local bookstores and on the Waterloo Press Website.
